DEAD RIVER PINK

DEAD RIVER PINK
There can never be a sequel to Dead River Rough Cut, it just can’t be done. However, Richard and I are talking about a new movie, tentatively titled Dead River Pink.
We do know about Ann LaBastille, but unfortunately she died just a couple of months ago.
Certainly there are some “woodswomen” out there living a “rustic” life. They don’t exactly dislike men, but they want to make their own decisions and have discovered that it’s simply less hassle and more rewarding to live alone. This is not to say that they’re adverse to spending time with a guy, but they just don’t want to live with one.

Maybe she’s an artist/writer living in the forest.
Maybe she’s an herbalist, but at night she’s a street walker.
Maybe she works in a bank, but retreats to her shack in the woods.
Maybe she does every conceivable thing to avoid a “real” job.
Maybe she’s a migrant farm worker who follows the harvests.
Maybe she’s a Native American who has gone back to the “traditional life.”
Regardless, she has to be charismatic, dynamic, outspoken and fearless.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

My mother lives alone in Concord Township. She works for an apple orchard seasonally and also at a small lumber mill. She draws her own water and cooks/ heats her house on a wood fired stove. I live and work in MA/CT and when I get tired of the hustle and bustle of life here I enjoy visiting her and the simplistic way of life she has carved out for herself. I just came across DRRC and look forward to viewing it!

I hope you enjoy the movie, and I'd like to meet or at least correspond with your mother. She might be perfect for DRP.
Thanks,
Stu

I'll be in the Solon area in two weeks for hunting season, I'll ask her if she would be interested in discussing the film. Thanks for replying.

We have the perfect woman for you! If you're still looking for someone, your discription fits a friend of ours to the "T". She lives in a small shack in Western Maine, without power or running water and raises sheep and chickens. For income she does snowshoe re-lacing, chair caning, basket weaving and leather work. She has chosen to live a simplier life and prides herself on being self-sufficient. She is "rough and tough" and quite the character!

She certainly sounds interesting.

Any interest in a family with three beautiful children homesteading? I also heat/cook on a wood cookstove. We raise our own cattle, (milkers and oxen), chickens and pigs. We keep alarge garden and I also do alot of canning.
My husband is a carpenter, specializing in post and beam construction. He works the oxen with our four year old son. Our current home is simply not remote enough.. looking for a pot to piss in before we up and leave here.
Dick Proeneke is our inspiration. Bob and Walter are our good friends.
